Pushchair brakes

This was one of my own DIY project. Our little girl’s puscchair is over two years old and the brake started to misbehave on it. It’s a Joie Versatrax but I know for a fact that a lot of other makes are using similar braking system. On these prams, there is only one brake leverContinue reading “Pushchair brakes”

Patio repair and garden edging

It was a nice two day project I finished recently in Clifton, York. The customer wanted to remove a section from their patio and alter the edge of it and they needed a block paving border putting down all along the grass. I started my work by removing the edging stones and the flags fromContinue reading “Patio repair and garden edging”

Sun tunnel

This was an exciting project I finished recently near the knavesmire. The customer had a new roof fitted not long ago and along with the new roof, they installed a sun tunnel. But they only fitted the outside part, they never installed the indoor part. So for a fair few months there were plenty ofContinue reading “Sun tunnel”

Pull out kitchen drawers

Recently I had a few try-to-build-something-nice type projects like this, and I’m not gonna lie, I enjoyed this one too. The client was an elderly gentlemen who had problems reaching down for the kitchen units and taking things out from the lower shelves. So the idea was, that we build 6 kitchen drawers out ofContinue reading “Pull out kitchen drawers”

Rolling bin store

This was a project that I particularly enjoyed. The client asked me to create a rolling bin storage for his recycling boxes out of treated, decent quality timber. The material cost was not low, however the end result speaks for itself and the storage should last a fair few years without any deterioration. One ofContinue reading “Rolling bin store”

Ridge repair

This was another little job I finished a few weeks back. Customer had a lean-on extension built and the mortar at the ridge tiles started crumbling and falling onto the patio. This is a relatively easy fix, the access is the tricky bit as usual. So I started with the tool hire company and IContinue reading “Ridge repair”

Large shed project

This was a rather different work from the normal repair it/fix it type jobs. When the customer bought his house there was a large and very sturdy looking shed at the back of his garden. The roof felt was long gone and there was a rotten corner in the roof panel but otherwise, it wasContinue reading “Large shed project”

Patio repairs

I finished this job last week in York amongst a few other works at the same property. The house had a few stone steps and a patio area on the back where the pointing looked tired. To start with I got out my trusty grinder with a few masonry and diamond discs and dug outContinue reading “Patio repairs”

Laminate flooring

I recently finished another laminate flooring project, this time a lot bigger than just a bedroom. This occasion I had to cover two bedrooms, a section of the corridor and a living room with continous pattern. The client opted for a set pattern rather than just random flooring. This has its pros and cons ofContinue reading “Laminate flooring”

Dryer vent

This was a real quick job I finished last week. The customer had a small outbuilding where they keep their washer and dryer. The dryer is not a condenser dryer so it has to be vented out. They used to use a very long ducting hose and they hung the end of it through theContinue reading “Dryer vent”
