When it comes to flat pack assembly there are a few different types of people. There are the ones who are taking it as a burden but they know if they do it, the wife/partner will be out of their back’s and it’s a win-win. There are the ones who hate it with a passion, they can’t be asked with it, they don’t have the patience to go through each steps and they don’t understand why there are several pieces left out once finished.

And there are also the ones who are actually enjoy doing flat pack assembly and can’t wait to go to IKEA again to buy a juicy PAX unit with several boxes of parts and bits in them and from these bits build an actual furniture. Guess which type I am 🙂

This time I had to assemble an IKEA double bed for a customer’s child as the previous one wasn’t big enough already. There was a lot of measuring prior to buying the bed as the room is not the largest and the bed turned out to be quite a snug fit. I started with headboard and carried on the bed frame and the footboard.

As there was very little space, it took me quite a while to align everything perfectly and bolt every element together. Once this step was finished I moved onto the side boards and the slats. These were already a breeze as I ensured earlier the frame is square.

Once it was all finished I unpacked the mattress as well and ta-daa, I was finished. It took me just shy of an hour and once I packed all the cardboard away and I was on the way for my next job.
