Small fencing project

I enjoyed this bit of work a lot, as I was working in late November but sheltered from the wind and rain so for a change I didn’t turn into an ice cube by the end of the job.

When the customer bought their house, there was this small bit of fencing between their garage and the next door house. But this fence was in a real poor condition. At some point they tried to patch it up by screwing plyboard over it, but even that was rotting away.

To start I removed the old fencing which went super fast thanks for my trusty crowbar. Than I started measuring and planning for the new 75 X 75 fence posts and the rails. With a couple of concrete screws and stainless washers I fixed the posts for the wall and I set out for the rails.

Once this was done I got some feather edge boards and set out the boards to make sure they have decent overlap and that these overlaps are even all the way. I used galvanised nails to fix them onto the frame. I even made a small cap out of a board to protect the end of the featherboards from the elements. As a last step I painted the whole lot white, as per the clients request.

The customer was well happy with the result and so was I. Nice little job and I was onto the next one.
