This was just a quick grout repair in the Dringhouses area in York a couple of days ago. The existing grouting started to come out over the years and the client wanted to patch it up the best we could, to make sure water doesn’t get under the tiles causing more damage.

So I started with my trusty knife and started to remove all the loose grouting between the tiles. After that with a soft paint brush I cleaned between all the joints. Normally I use the grouting that you need to mix up on site, but this time – as it was only a small amount needed – I tried the ready mixed grout from a tub. The cons are that you can’t change consistency and for me it was a bit too liquid. But the pros are that you don’t need to mess about with mixing at all, just put it into your silicone gun and fire away.

In a little over an hour I was finished with the grouting and cleaning up as well. It definitely looks miles better than it used to do, making the client a happy one.
