This was a lovely and sunny Sunday afternoon and the job wasn’t too difficult either. I know a lot of people doesn’t like chasing/pointing but I enjoy re-pointing brickwork, I find it quite therapeutical.

The home owners had damp issues by the front door which they wanted to get rid of. To start with, I chased out the brickwork and repointed the bottom 6-7 courses around the door. I also used fast setting concrete mix to seal the gap between the concrete drive and the brick wall. To make sure the driving rain doesn’t seep through by the door frame, I resealed the bottom of the door frame using silicone.

Once the pointing is perfectly dry the owners will use high quality water sealer on the outside wall to ensure no water is getting through. And once the water cannot get through we just have to wait a few weeks for the wall to dry a bit and I will be going back again to re-plaster the inside around the doorframe.

I did enjoy myself this Sunday, the customer was really happy with the results so far, I am looking forward to finish the job.
